These two navigation systems mentioned were developed in the 1940s and they were in use in the British Royal Navy during the World War II. In the year 1993, the GPS Team was selected by the National Aeronautic Association for the prestigious award Robert J. Colleir Trophy. Two of the GPS developers were recipients of the National Academy of Engineering Charles Stark Draper Prize for the year 2003.
