Career
Options for MBBS students:
Medical
science is a lucrative industry everywhere. In India, most of the students opt
for either engineering or medical science. The reason is obvious: medical
science is much more developed and reputed in the country. It offers great
financial security and benefits, which are generally not available in other
career options, like Engineering and Law. Thus, it would not be surprising to
find out that a maximum number of candidates for any entrance exam is in the
medical science.
In
Medical science, it is expected of students that they be prepared to give a
good number of their years to academics because the field is too vast,
technical, and complex to be understood in three-four years. It requires years,
maybe a decade, to substantially understand the concepts necessary to kick
start a decent career. This, however, does not mean that those who put a full
stop after MBBS do not have any career options present with them. Such
perception is credited to stereotypes towards graduates prevalent in our
society and therefore, must be debunked. Even to a graduate, there are
plentiful opportunities available to choose from.
After
MBBS, there are a lot more options available than one thinks. In fact, soon
after graduating you can engage in the following fields and kick start a
booming career. This way you can do away with general perceptions that a mere
MBBS degree would not do many wonders.
Clinical
practice with the degree of MBBS:
The
first option is Clinical practice. One can start with clinical practice in
either government or private sector. One can join a government hospital on
full-time basis or on a contractual basis and if this does not work out, one
can set up his own clinic.
Thus,
with this, the general perception about an MBBS grad is challenged completely,
as there are good career opportunities available to them along with excellent
financial securities and stable future.
Hospital
Management:
This
is a new area, which is still growing but has a high value in the market,
despite its recent development. The world is seeing a phenomenal rise of
corporate culture. The corporate society has undertaken actions in almost every
area and field that can possibly exist. There is no field where you cannot find
minimum corporate participation. So, hospital management is no exception.
Hospital
Management refers to the administration and functioning of hospitals.
Corporates are looking for able, knowledgeable medical graduates, who can take
on the laborious task of administrating hospitals. This, however, must be kept
in mind that only a few private and government hospitals come up with such
posts currently.
To
go ahead with researching:
If
you like to explore the practical details of medical science and work upon this
area more extensively, then you are treading the path to research. Research is
the backbone of this field. Without researches, medical science cannot advance
and if you are willing to contribute to research soon after MBBS, you have
options available.
MBBS
graduates have options available to join prestigious medical institutes like
Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Indian Council for Medical Research,
etc. that offer state-of-art research facilities to young researchers and are
known for their contribution to Indian medical science.
The
general criterion is to clear NET, also known as National Eligibility Test, and
then you can pursue advanced research programs like Ph.D. Degree in
Neurophysiology, Speech pathology, mental health, etc
Other
options:
While
there are many options an MBBS graduate can avail of, some of the most popular
ones are specialization like Diploma in Child Health, Diploma in Gynecology and
Obstetrics, etc; Masters from advanced countries like the United States and the
United Kingdom; etc.
An
MBBS student has additional options to pursue, apart from mainstream career
options. What is required is that a student patiently researches about such options
and make necessary efforts towards them.

Form of MBBS: Mike’s BBS
MBBS

followed by Nordic countries. This system was created by Norwegian programmer
Mike Robertson and his Oslo-based team during the 1990’s. During the inception
period, MBBS was only made available for DOS (Disk Operating System) platform
because this system allowed one process to handle only one node.
And
if you wanted to do multitasking, then you need multi-node Bulletin Board
Systems like Microsoft Windows or DESQview. MBBS had used command-line
interface which allowed users to stack commands. Instead of typing command by
