VSAT Full Form Name
Full Form of VSAT :
Very Small Aperture Terminal
VSAT Full Form is Very Small Aperture Terminal. A very small aperture terminal (VSAT) is a satellite telecommunication station that receives and transmits data with the use of the satellite; it serves both home and business users. A VSAT consists of two parts, a transceiver that is placed outdoors to connect with satellite and a device that is placed indoors to connect with the transceiver and connect to PC. A VSAT user needs a box that interfaces between the computer and an external antenna with a transceiver.
A VSAT transmits narrow and broadband signals to satellites. The data from the satellites is transmitted to different hubs in other locations across the world. The hub controls all the operations of the network. The transceiver sends and receives a signal from a hub station in a mesh topology or cosmic topology. In order to connect and communicate with another user each transmission has to go through hub station which retransmits through satellite using VSAT.
VSAT can handle data, voice and video signals. VSAT has a number of advantages over other alternatives. In the case of private application, companies can control their communication system as and when required. VSAT antennas have a variable range from 30 inches – 48 inches, the data rate range from 56kps to 4mbs. VSAT is widely used for transportable, on-the-move communications and maritime communications.
VSATs are commonly used to transmit:
1.   Narrowband data: This includes point of sale transactions like a credit card, RFID data (radio-frequency identification, data acquisition data, and supervisory control.
2.   Broadband data: For satellite Internet access to remote locations, Video or Voice over Internet Protocol.
