world’s largest construction tools manufacturer company.
History
behind the foundation of JCB:
In
order to understand something fully, it is important that one should begin with
the history. History narrates a lot about the subject matter of study and helps
the learner appreciate even more. Thus, as far as the article and the subject
matter is concerned, it is apt to begin the discussion on various facets of JCB
with its history.
JCB
was founded in a small garage, which the founder Joseph Cyril Bamford used. He
made his first vehicle from remnants of war materials. The vehicle he had made
was a tripping trailer. On the day when he made his first vehicle, his child
Anthony was born. He sold the trailer in the market and built another trailer.
The first trailer has been preserved as a memorabilia.
By
the year 1948, there were six persons who were working in the company. The
company, in that year, made Europe’s first hydraulic tipping trailer. In the
following two years, the operations were shifted to a Cheese factory, which was
situated in Rocester. In the year 1953, the company came up with a backhoe
loader, which had the JCB mark on it for the first time. The logo was created
by Derby Media and Leslie Smith, who was the advertising designer. Subsequently,
in the year 1957, the company launched the product “hydra-digga” that was
embedded with an excavator and a major leader. This product worked as an
all-purpose tool that was applicable for construction and agricultural areas.
In
the year 1979, JCB entered the Indian market and in the year 1991, the company
entered into a joint venture agreement with the Japanese company Sumitomo for
the purpose of producing excavators in Japan. The agreement with Sumitomo ended
in the year 1998. Two years after, a factory was opened in Pooler, the United
States and in the following year, in Brazil.
The
production capacity and worldwide prominence of JCB increased with time and by
the time it touched the 21st century, it had already become a
worldwide name in the field of digging and excavation. The first engine
designed and also manufactured by JCB was put into production in the year 2004.
The name of the engine was JCB444. The following year, a major event occurred.
The company purchased another company after long 40 years. It purchased a
German equipment firm, which came by the name Vibromax.
In
that very same year, JCB established a new factory in Pudong situated in China.
The company had grown big, with twice as many employees as in the year 1975. By
the year 2006, the company was employing more than 4000 employees and the
numbers eventually went up. Since then, the company started venturing in
projects that are more expensive with different companies across the globe.
Following
the launch of a design competition in architecture in the year 2007 overseen by
the Royal Institutes of British Architects’ (abbreviated as RIBA) Competitions,
the company started chalking out a JCB Heavy products site that had about 40
million euros invested in it. The company moved its operations to A50 from
Pinfold Street situated in Uttoxeter.
The
Pinfold site was eventually demolished in the year 2009. In that year, JCB
announced its plan to make India its largest manufacturing market. The factory
situated in Ballabgarh in Haryana is now the biggest backhoe loader
manufacturer unit in the world. JCB was immensely affected by the recession
that caused it to remove 2000 jobs but later in the year 2010, it declared its
intentions to recruit 200 new workers.

Rocester,
the United States is the headquarters of the JCB, which is incidentally the
site for production of backhoe loaders and Loadall handlers. JCB has three more
factories situated in nearby Cheadle, Staffordshire that deals with the
production of earthmovers, compact tools, and land movers. One factory is
located in Rugeley that manufactures cab systems. Three factories are located
in Uttoxeter that manufactures attachments, parts centres, and heavy tools. The
other factories are located in Foston (deals with power systems) and Wrexham
(that deals with drivetrain mechanisms). In the year 2013, the company

In
India, JCB has established its factories in Ballabgarh in Haryana, Jaipur, and
Pune. In the United States, there is one factory that is located in Pooler,
Georgia and in Brazil, the factor is located in Sorocaba. The JCB sells its

JCB
enjoys market dominance in India, with Stats stating that every three out four
construction tools that are sold in the Indian market belong to JCB. There was
twelve times increase in the revenue of JCB in India from the year 2001. About
17.5 percent of the total revenue of the JCB comes from the Indian market only.

Form of JCB: Journal of Cell Biology
JCB
Full Form stands for Journal of Cell
Biology. JCB refers to an international acclaimed journal run by the
Rockefeller University. The JCB is a peer-reviewed journal that is published
the Rockefeller University Press.
The
JCB has a rich history and therefore, a glimpse on some historical facts would
be appropriate. It all started with a small group of biologists who started
experimenting with intracellular anatomy with the help of electron microscopy
during the 1950s. Most of the research transpired at the Rockefeller Institute
of Medicine. The Rockefeller Institute of Medicine is a predecessor of the now
Rockefeller University.
When
the group had decided to publish their research, they were dismayed by the
parochial policies adopted by many publishing outlets. This persuaded the
Director of the Rockefeller Institute, Detlev Bronk, to conduct an informal
meeting to ponder upon the possibility of the foundation of a new journal that
will be able to fully appreciate the research. The discussions led to the
foundation of The Journal of Biophysical and Biochemical Cytology.
The
first issue of the Journal of Biophysical Biochemical Cytology was published on
January 25, 1955. The Journal charged a subscription fee of $15 annually. The
first team of editors comprised of Richard S. Bear, H. Stanley Benette, Albert
L. Lehninger, Francis O. Schmitt, Franz Schrader, George E. Palade, Keith R.
Porter, and Arnold M. Seligman.
The
purpose of the journal was to provide a platform for the publication of
articles on areas concerning morphological, biophysical, and biochemical
researches. The Journal was particularly interested in publishing articles on
the cellular organization at molecular and colloidal stages and on cytological
researches.
The
Journal has published many articles that are based on many important
discoveries such as secretory pathway, chloroplast, DNA microtubes, tight
junctions, cadherines, etc. The quality of the articles has been appreciated by
many academic institutions and general readers.

Form of JCB: Johann Christian Bach (classical composer)
JCB
Full Form refers to the great Johann
Christian Bach. Lovingly referred to as JCB, was the youngest of eleven
sons of Johann Sebastian Bach, who was the popular German composer of the
Baroque Period. Born on September 5 in the year 1975, the “London Bach” or the
“English Bach” was an influential musician who influenced the concert style of
Mozart.
Let
us explore some historical facts exposing his early years. JCB was born to
Johann Sebastian and Anna Bach in Leipzig. When he was born, his father was
already 50 years old and this fact is considered one of the reasons for
differences in his different musical style from that of his father. After his
father’s death, young Bach learned a lot from his second-oldest half brother
Carl Philip Emanuel Bach, who was considered to be a music prodigy. Soon after
he started pursuing a career as a music composer and his firs musical stint was
with a renowned player of the viola da gamba, Carl Friedrich Abel.
In
the year 1765, Bach moved to Italy to study music. Within four years, he became
organist at the Milan Cathedral. It was during his stay in Italy that he
decided to convert from Lutheranism to Catholicism. His reputation took a huge
surge when he travelled to three premier operas conducted at the King’s Theatre
in 1763. He became a music master to Queen Charlotte. Shortly afterwards, he
met his future wife Cecilia Grassi, who was eleven years younger than he was.
He, however, did not have any children with her.
With
time, Bach’s music saw the decline and that incurred high debt upon him. When
he died on January 1, 1782, he already had significant debt over him. Queen
Charlotte offered pension to Cecilia on his death. JCB is buried in the
graveyard of St. Pancras Old Church, London.
Charles
Burney has given a full account of JCB’s life in the fourth volume of “History
of Music”. It is popularly known that Mozart met JCB when he was as young as 8
years old. On his first encounter with JCB, Mozart had developed a great
interest in him. Mozart’s music style is heavily influenced by JCB.
